About me
Steven Cowan began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey at 29 years old and spent the next two decades earning one of the hardest black belts in martial arts. In 2003 he opened the first dedicated BJJ academy in Norfolk — BJJ Success USA — and it remains the region's original school.
Steven is the UK's only certified Paediatric Master Specialist through SKILLZ Worldwide, a credential that reflects an extraordinary depth of knowledge in child development through martial arts. Every instructor at the academy is also a certified Paediatric Ninja Specialist.
After undergoing major abdominal surgery — an incision from ribcage to below the navel — Steven returned to the mat and competed again at black belt level. He then dedicated himself to teaching others how to train smarter, recover fully, and enjoy BJJ for life. His experience is documented in three books available on Amazon.
